Carl West

Area Director

I'm Carl West and I am the FCA Area Director for Richland County.

My Vision: To see coaches and athletes become champions in the game of life and victorious warriors on the battlefield for Christ!

My Calling: After a 25+ year career in coaching and education during which I also served as a volunteer for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) within our public schools, I answered God’s call to serve on FCA’s staff. Since 1954, FCA has challenged athletes and coaches to impact the world for Jesus Christ. The Lord has trained and prepared me for full-time ministry to pursue the vision He has given me through FCA.

My Service Area: I am currently serving the  Richland County school district area and need your prayers on a daily basis.

Advancing the Kingdom: We need your prayers and financial support to reach our lost youth through the ministry of sports, coaches and student-athletes on their campuses for the cause of Christ.

"Together we can make a difference in the lives of our youth!"

Carl West's journey with FCA began as a student athlete and Huddle leader at the University of South Carolina. Now, he's bringing his experience and dedication to Richland County, South Carolina, where he continues to be a driving force for positive change in schools and communities.

FCA Student Leaders

Our huddle and the FCA Journey in general has
impacted my walk with Christ tremendously. Gathering for fellowship with my fellow classmates and being able to share our love for God is truly such an amazing thing.
Hearing the testimony from our teachers and fellow peers allows us to feel a sense of belonging and that we are not alone in whatever comes across our path.
Leading freshman small groups has allowed me to get to know the rising class better and help guide them in their walk with Christ while going through the challenges that high school brings. I hope FCA can continue to contribute to sharing the Gospel around school!

Christ's Ambassadors

I became the Huddle leader at Dreher HS because the Lord called me to it. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20). If I believe God’s Word to be true, then I must be willing to do the work as He asks His followers. Yes, I teach at this school, but my primary role is to be an ambassador for Christ. “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:20.
